The systems for replacing subterranean piping through micro-tunneling,
are those employed as a method of complete replacement of piping
spans of differing diameters that show different degrees of deterioration
which no longer allow them to function optimally. Some common causes
of deterioration are; high levels of corrosion, fissures, cracks,
root intrusions, among others, and even semi-collapsed sections.
The main advantage presented by these replacement methods is the
elimination of a need to dig ditches that span the length of the
pipeline, they instead allow us to exclusively dig ditches in small
spans for the introduction of new piping, resulting in a more cost
efficient way or replacing pipe than more traditional methods, and
also resulting in the elimination of other induced projects that
other methods require.
An additional advantage presented by micro-tunneling is the ability
to increase the diameter of the pipe being replaced thereby increasing
the pipelines flow capacity.Another characteristic that arises due
to its construction process it the ability to completely eliminate
any induced projects due to the fact that the new pipeline uses
the same tracing as the existing one, making it more accessible
in the higher price hiring modality, considering these are highly
defined concepts as are the project volumes.
